ORANGERIES
Orangeries are becoming a popular alternative to a home extension as the combination of a substantial structure together with the luxury of outdoor living is often the ideal blend.
They are a luxurious addition to any home, an investment of love and passion. Certainly not a building genre chosen for those working to a stringent project budget. Elaborate pilasters, posts, classical fascia designs and beautiful lanterns come together to form the modern-day interpretation of the orangery.
Although conservatories and orangeries are considered to be very similar, there are some big differences between the two glass structures. Orangeries were originally designed to allow people in climates similar to the UK to grow citrus trees and although an orangery is technically a form of conservatory, orangeries tend to be built with more substantial features and feel like a more of an integral space.
Bespoke Orangeries tend to be built with more brickwork or wooden sections, usually with full height pillars creating a feeling of luxury and can sometimes blend better with a property, whereas conservatories are still seen more as a garden room due to the large amount of glass they use.
If your project is part of a larger renovation, conversion or self-build proposal and you are thinking of instructing an Architect or already have, we have dealt with many Architects over the years and have developed longstanding relationships. So, we can create the perfect bespoke timber orangery that they have designed for you whilst maybe being able to guide in the process along the way.
